Mahmoud Hammad

- He studied painting, medal casting, and murals in Rome 1953
- In the period of 1938-1960, he was interested in realism and self- portrait paintings
- Between 1960 and 1963, he produced paintings about issues of social struggle in an analytic geometric style
- Between 1964 and 1988, he was attracted to Arabic calligraphy and he produced calligraphic full of rhythm and harmonious sequence of colors
- He worked as a painting and etching teacher and then as the dean of faculty of fine arts (1970-1980)
- He designed several statuses for the international fair of Damascus and participated in designing the tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Damascus
- He died in 1988
