Aksam Tallaa

Aksam was born in 1963 Al-Jolan, Syria from a Palestinian mother. Calligrapher, and a plastic artist who worked in journalism, media and art criticism. “by tracing images surrounding a place rich in sharp contrasts between what we dream, and what we live, the wall of the tent was the first of these notebooks, the footprints on the mud of narrow paths were evidence of vitality and movement that raised expectations and questions about those who left these addresses behind”. This was his vision as a child who spent his education in UNRWA schools for refugees. In 1981 he worked in journalism and media, starting in Beirut, later he worked as a calligrapher to many newspapers and magazines in Damascus. At the beginning of the year 2000, he headed himself towards the production of calligraphy painting, inspired by the visual aspect of Arabic calligraphy without the loads of literary crafts. He has contributions in plastic critical writing. He is currently the secretary of the Syrian. Plastic Critics and Researchers Association. Winner of Al-Burda International Award in Dubai 2010. His works shown in local and international participations, lately he representative Syria at Venice Biennale in Italy (2022). Nowadays he works in Damascus, devoting himself to art and aesthetic research.
