Ali Al-Kafri

Ali Al-Kafri (1948-2022) is a Palestinian visual artist born in the village of Lubya, Tiberias District. His family migrated to Syria as a result of the Palestinian Nakba of 1948. He received his school education in Syrian schools, completed his secondary education at Jawdat Al-Hashemi High School, and graduated from the Teachers’ Training Institute in Damascus in 1970, and from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cairo in 1973. Ali Al-Kafri worked as a teacher of fine arts in the Syrian Ministry of Education, editor-in-chief of Al-Tali’i magazine for children, and a presenter on Syrian television. He worked in journalism and art direction for a number of newspapers, and is a founding member of the Union of Palestinian Visual Artists, in addition to his membership in the Union of Syrian and Arab Visual Artists. His works are held in the Palestinian National Museum, the Ministry of Culture, and in private collections in Arab and Western countries.
